SEO, the secret keeper….

…or the silent killer?

In honor of Titanic's 25th anniversary and in the run-up to Oscar Sunday, I present to you this metaphor, a visual representation of how SEO (Jack) supports your website (Rose).

Is this meme a bit of a stretch? Maybe. Maybe not.

Basically, what I'm saying here is that SEO is a behind-the-scenes tactic and, when done correctly, is a non-advertising, highly useful traffic driver.

Optimizing your webpages and images to include untapped keywords and phrases as well as your product details, business location details, and more, allows search engines (such as Google, Bing, etc) to properly identify the content on your site thus delivering your site to the people searching those terms in their search engines. Sheesh. Say that 5x fast.

Where your website falls within the search engine results page (aka the SERP) is considered your "ranking." Rankings rely on more than just the keywords used on your website though; it takes a few identifiers into account, one of which is any referring backlink that navigates back to your page.

A great way to garner quality backlinks? PR & BRAND PARTNERSHIPS! I know, I've mentioned both of these marketing strategies a number of times in previous posts, but they're important, people!

A holistic marketing plan allows for various strategies to depend on one another. A rising tide lifts all boats, as they say :)
